The Indispensable American Pie
No matter how the day goes, there is always room for an apple or pumpkin pie after the traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey and mashed potatoes. Pie-making has been an art form since the ancient times of 6000 BC, back when people first learned how to make a dough and what to fill it with.
Pumpkin pies, now a staple, were introduced to Americans in the 1620s during the Pilgrims’ second Thanksgiving. Every year, around 180 million pies are consumed in the United States.
