A Piece of Local History

Fully vetted by the findings of Kanaby and others, the 112-year-old beer bottle discovered at Montclair’s College Hall made a sensation locally and nationally. Montclair’s town historian Mike Farrelly was baffled by the finding of Kanaby and even called it “unique in Montclair history.”

To Farrelly, the message in the bottle also conveys a beautiful truth, coming straight from New Jersey’s past. According to the historian, “our ancestors and people who went before us were proud of what they accomplished.”
