Big Hives Mean Big Colonies
Finding a hive this big naturally poses another big question. Just how many bees were in this hive? You can’t count them one by one and, you need to account for those who died due to the pesticide. But there is a smart way to get an estimated amount of bees in a hive.
Each inch holds about five worker cells, and a square inch holds 25 worker bees. So by measuring the hive with a ruler and working out the square length, then multiplying that by 25, you’ll get the number of bees in a hive.
