WORLD WAR II RATIONS PURCHASED A WEDDING DRESS
The late Queen Elizabeth II passed away in September 2022 at the age of 96, leaving behind a legacy as Britain’s longest-serving monarch with a reign of 70 years. She had been married to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away in April 2021, for nearly 75 years.
Their wedding took place two years after WWII ended, and then Princess Elizabeth purchased her dress using ration coupons. But coupons donated by women all over the UK had to be returned since giving them away was illegal.
