Celebration Mode

Kanaby realized that the message in the bottle dated from one day before the 4th of July, a celebration that’s been going on in the United States since 1777. This painted a vivid picture of the moment the two men decided to hide the bottle inside the College Hall walls.

They were probably celebrating the completion of a job well done and having one or two beers on the occasion of the great American holiday. The idea of hiding a message inside one of their empty beer bottles was probably improvised on the spot.
