A Familiar But Fast-disappearing Sight
Snake charming, once a prevalent practice in India, has become a rare sight, but it can still be found during festivals and in certain small towns and villages. Snake charmers, often itinerant performers, travel from place to place to showcase their skills. They reportedly use a pungi instrument to captivate the serpents.

However, snake charming isn’t limited to snake handling; these performances often include elements like juggling and sleight of hand. In some Indian cities, authorities have attempted to ban it, but many snake charmers continue defying these laws to preserve this traditional art form.
