Intensely Fiery Peppers
The bhut jolokia, also known as the ghost pepper, hails from Northeast India and is not for the faint-hearted. With a scorching rating of over 1 million Scoville Heat Units, it’s 170 times hotter than Tabasco sauce.

Despite its intense heat, it’s a part of regional cuisine, often used with dried fish. Interestingly, these fiery peppers are even utilized in smoke bombs to deter wild elephants. In pepper-eating contests, the bhut jolokia is a frequent contender, capable of making even the bravest contestants see steam coming out of their ears.
