A Lot of Bricks and a Huge Hive

Even after removing five lines of bricks, Glover still hadn’t uncovered the entire hive. But he did find seven narrow combs running to the same point. He had found the starting point of the hive, and that was a good sign. It did, however, mean that he had to keep going.

Beehives are constructed like a production factory, with special honeycomb sections for birthing drones and queens and storing honey. It’s believed that bees build their honeycomb in hexagonal shapes because the shape is the most effective in terms of space usage.
