The succession rules in Monaco dictate that only children born within wedlock can inherit the throne. Consequently, Prince Albert’s illegitimate children are ineligible. Had Prince Albert and Charlene not had offspring, Princess Caroline’s son, Andrea Casiraghi, might have been considered a potential successor by Monaco’s Crown Council.
