THE DEAD OUTNUMBER US
The origin of modern humans can be traced back to Africa, about 200,000 years ago. They descended from Homo erectus, an extinct human species that lived between 1.9 million and 135,000 years ago. This leads to the thought-provoking realization that there are many more dead people on our planet than living.
The Guardian reports that approximately 100 billion people have been born in the last 50,000 years, with some estimates being even higher. Currently, there are fewer than 6.4 billion people living.
