GUIDED BY A TRAIL OF DEAD BODIES
According to Smithsonian Magazine, over 200 people have lost their lives while trying to climb Mount Everest, with the number rising to over 300 as of 2022. Most of the bodies have not been retrieved and remain on the mountain, turning it into a sort of graveyard.
Given the dangers and the number of fatalities, some may choose to forgo the ascent and avoid becoming part of the Rainbow Valley, where the brightly-colored vests of the fallen serve as markers along the route.
