HALF OF MURDERERS NEVER GET CAUGHT
In the United States, if you are murdered, there is now a 50% chance that the culprit will not be identified. According to NPR, the national clearance rate for homicides in 2015 was 64.1%. In comparison, the clearance rate was over 90% five decades prior.
Criminologists estimate that about 200,000 murders have gone unresolved since the 1960s, leaving families in a state of uncertainty and waiting for answers. Homicide detectives have reported that solving murders has become increasingly complex in recent decades.
