Bringing a Colossal Bee To Life On-screen

Here’s a picture of when a colossal mechanical bee stole the spotlight in “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” of 1989. This mighty insect, painstakingly crafted, brought the movie’s unforgettable bee ride scene to life. With the magic of post-production, the CGI department’s finishing touches made this honey-loving marvel even more charming on-screen.

The executive producer and effects producer, Thomas G. Smith, explained that the crew had to literally ”fly the camera around the yard.” And to capture it on film, they used a wide-angle lens that flew around the yard in a bee-like motion.
