The Silence Is Deafening
Once the baby stopped crying, people in the restaurant realized something wasn’t right, and all their attention shifted towards Jackie’s family. This curiosity stemmed mainly from fear for the baby’s safety more than anything. Maybe the little one had choked, or something terrible had happened to it. Either way, something was off.
To make matters worse, Jackie seemed to be the only mom in the restaurant with the baby, so she was bound to attract attention at one point or another. Without even looking up, the mother of three was sure that everyone in the restaurant had their eyes set on their table.
