Joining Stanford with a Golf Scholarship
Tiger was in high demand at college golf programs, ultimately electing to join Stanford University, renowned victors of the 1994 NCAA tournament. In the autumn of 1994, he embarked on his Stanford journey with a golf scholarship. He dazzled the world with his inaugural collegiate triumph at the 40th Annual William H. Tucker Invitational.
While pursuing his economics major, his fellow collegiate comrade, Notah Begay III, playfully bestowed the moniker “Urkel,” adding a touch of whimsy to their friendship. The Cardinal was yet to find out the powerhouse of talent called Tiger Woods.
