Becoming A Father
In June 1982, Charles and Diana welcomed their first son, Prince William, who was an heir to the throne. Here, the couple debuted their newborn on the steps of St. Mary’s Hospital, a tradition in the royal family.
However, by the following year, Charles and Diana did something unconventional when they brought their young son with them on a tour of Australia and New Zealand, breaking with the tradition of leaving their children at home during such trips. The child went on to be called “William the Terrible” by his mom.
