As per Watson Institute, the total number of American military fatalities in Iraq and Afghanistan surpassed 7,000. There have been over 177k fatalities among the allied national army and police forces of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, and Syria. Allies from the West have paid a heavy price in their lives as well.
In Iraq and Afghanistan, rocket-propelled fire and handmade explosives account for about half of all fatalities and injuries. Car accidents, electricity, heat exhaustion, friendly fire, and battlefield suicides also contributed to their numbers.
