John Candy in Real Life
John Candy was Canada’s gift to the comedy world. He brought down the house in cinematic gems like “The Blues Brothers” and “Spaceballs.” But it was his uproarious role as the lead character in “Uncle Buck” that got the movie’s producer John Hughes so smitten that he cast the big guy in the iconic Christmas caper, “Home Alone.”
As sweet as his rise was, his exit was bittersweet. In 1994, John breathed his last. His pals, including the magnificent Catherine O’Hara, and kinfolk tossed him a heartfelt tribute that was as radiant as his smile. A legend gone but not forgotten.
