The Goth Outlier
Going to the beach as a goth can be problematic as goth fashion doesn’t typically include swimwear. The subculture finds its inspiration in fashion periods such as New Romantic, Belle Époque, Edwardian, and Victorian, which provide no room for modern beachwear.

Despite this vacuum, goth culture has survived since its early ’80s roots, largely due to its ties to timeless genres such as post-punk, cold wave, darkwave, and death rock. It has also thrived by embracing outcasts who need a place to belong.
