While it’s legal to own a pet alligator without a permit in states like Alabama, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Wisconsin, it’s worth noting that these reptiles do not make the best pets. They do not provide the same level of affection as domestic animals like dogs and cats and can grow up to 12 feet in length.
