J.K. Rowling – Started At Age 32
When “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” was released, J.K. Rowling was 32 years old. She was rejected by 12 publishers before one considered her, Bloomsbury. With a limited 500-copy print run, that first novel was published in 1997. When she finally got her break, she was a single mom relying on welfare and fighting despair.
Knowing all this, it’s cute how J.K. started writing early, creating her first story at age six. The tale, fittingly called Rabbit, is about a rabbit.
