Toni Morrison – Started At Age 39
Toni Morrison was an editor before establishing herself as one of the most renowned American novelists. At 39, she published her first work, “The Bluest Eye,” which provided the impetus for her career. Subsequently, her efforts were rewarded with the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1993.
Toni also won a Pulitzer Prize for fiction for the 1987 novel “Beloved.” By 2012, the United States government acknowledged her accomplishments by awarding her the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
