In several major Indian cities, a unique breed of officials known as “Nuisance Detectors” takes on maintaining public order. These individuals are entrusted with addressing disturbances in public spaces, and their role can be pretty assertive.
Certain nuisances receive particular attention due to their noticeable impact on public harmony. Public urination, defecation, and any form of lewd behavior are deemed punishable offenses, causing disruptions to the general populace. Inspired by Singapore’s successful implementation, India also frowns upon public spitting.
