A Fairy-tale Palace Like No Other
The Lake Palace, also known as Jag Niwas, is a stunning site in Udaipur, Rajasthan. This 1740s construction is a true architectural marvel. It appears as if it’s floating on the surface of Lake Pichola, covering four acres of the lake’s natural foundation.
Inside the palace, you’ll find black-and-white marble walls adorned with intricate decorations and precious stones. The courtyards feature fountains, pillared terraces, and beautiful gardens. Over the years, the Lake Palace has been meticulously restored. It has hosted distinguished guests such as Jackie Kennedy, Queen Elizabeth II, the Shah of Iran, Vivien Leigh, and the King of Nepal.
