The Resplendent Journey of the ‘Star of India’ Rolls Royce
Crafted in 1934 as a bespoke marvel for the Maharaja of Rajkot, Gujarat, the ‘Star of India’ is a Rolls Royce Phantom II, exuding opulence with its seven-seat configuration. However, its story took an intriguing twist when, 34 years later, the Maharaja’s grandson decided to part with this regal treasure.
But after 42 years, fate intervened. The same saffron-hued Rolls Royce, adorned with its distinctive fourteen headlights, resurfaced at an auction in Monaco. Remarkably, it was repurchased by Maharaja’s grandson, who had sold it for $500K and now paid an astonishing $8.5 million.
