Bibi Ka Maqbara – India’s ‘Mini Taj’ of Love
The Taj Mahal, India’s most iconic landmark, is globally renowned. Less known but equally captivating is the Bibi Ka Maqbara (The Lady’s Tomb), often called the ‘Mini Taj,’ standing 615 miles southwest of its grand predecessor.
Commissioned by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, son of Mumtaz Mahal, the ‘Mini Taj’ pays homage to his beloved wife, Diras Banu Begum. While less extravagant, its beauty and intricate design echo the Taj Mahal’s splendor. Remarkably, this symbol of love was constructed in 1660, costing approximately $8,700.
