Finally, after roughly four hours, Glover removed all of the bricks he needed to unearth the hive. And it was huge, with even Glover calling it the most significant pieces of honeycomb he had ever seen. He was also grateful that the honeycomb didn’t attach to the bricks, so it was virtually undamaged.
In fact, the Bartlett Bee Whisperer said that it was two flat honeycombs in one. It also had 13 capped queen cells, five of which were on the front. But what was concerning was why the hive was producing queens when it didn’t look like they were intending to swarm.
