The Noise Was Also Moving Around
With normal house sounds, it usually just takes a small adjustment to the thermostat, or patience to ride it out while the water heater adjusts to being used again. But besides the strange behavior that this noise exhibited, the homeowners were also unable to pinpoint where it was coming from.
The strangest thing about this noise was that no one in the house knew exactly what they were hearing. It wasn’t a bump, creak, or bubbling sound. It got even more strange when the sound was found to be moving around.
