Rocking with Creedence
Creedence Clearwater Revival, a prominent Southern rock band, brought their energetic “roots rock” sound to the Woodstock Music Festival. Drummer Doug Clifford’s intense performance captured in this photo highlighted the band’s passionate delivery of their hits.
Although the lineup included a diverse roster of artists, Creedence Clearwater Revival was a major draw due to its popularity at the time. Their music often featured socially relevant lyrics addressing the Vietnam War, among other political issues. Unfortunately, in 1972, just a few years after their Woodstock appearance, internal tensions led to the band’s decision to disband.
