Witnessing Behind-the-scenes Action
Sporting a timeless pair of Lee Riders jeans, festival-goer Melinda Lubinsky proudly displays an enviable “All Area Performer Pass” for the Aquarian Exposition, better known as the Woodstock Music Festival.
Backstage passes have evolved significantly since Woodstock. In the 1960s, they were often basic laminated cards, providing limited access. The modern era saw them transform into elaborate designs that reflect an artist’s brand or a festival’s theme. One of the earliest backstage passes dates back to Elvis Presley’s 1956 concerts. They were simple stickers, allowing entry to exclusive areas.
