The Woodstock Music Festival of 1969 starkly contrasted modern concerts with its unpreparedness for both attendance and weather. Unlike today’s setups, organizers were overwhelmed by the massive turnout and adverse conditions.

Attendees lacking tents improvised shelters using clothing and sticks. These impromptu setups, like makeshift tents, couldn’t shield them from torrential rains that transformed the grounds into a vast mud pit—the absence of seating, shelter, and proper facilities defined Woodstock’s chaos.
