AN EIGHT-MINUTE LAG
Science Line states that light from the sun takes eight minutes and twenty seconds to reach our planet. That’s because the sun is 93 million miles away. So this means that if the sun were to explode, we would not be aware of it until that amount of time has passed.
The concept of the vastness of space can be overwhelming for some. If the sun were to explode, life on Earth would come to an end. Thankfully, it’s not expected to occur for another five billion years.
