SUPERVOLCANOES REPRESENT IMPENDING DOOM
As we ponder the depths of existence, the idea of supervolcanoes brings on a whole new level of worry. The BBC reported in 2014 that there are about 20 of these massive lava-spilling bodies around the world. Thankfully, none of them has erupted in the past 20,000 years.
However, the dormant supervolcano in Yellowstone, Wyoming, raises concerns. In 1815, Indonesia’s Mount Tambora eruption—the biggest historically, yet small compared to supervolcanoes—killed 92,000 people. So, imagine the damage a supereruption will do.
