If That’s Modern Architecture, We Don’t Want It
This weird structure in the photo is the UK Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Heatherwick Studios designed it. The event was the latest incarnation of an international exhibition held in 1851 at Hyde Park in London.
Doesn’t this resemble a porcupine? Was it designed to prevent birds from building their nests on it? The following fundamental question is how it was supposed to be cleaned. It’s hard to imagine anyone climbing on those metal rods sticking out and dusting the entire thing.
